Italian Citizenship

Complete management through judicial and administrative routes. Over 5 years of exclusive experience and hundreds of successful cases.

What is Italian Citizenship

Italian citizenship is obtained by direct descent from an Italian ancestor, with no generational limit. Italy recognizes the principle of ius sanguinis (right of blood), meaning that if you have an Italian ancestor, you have the right to citizenship.

At MOVU we specialize in the judicial route, which is the fastest and has the highest success rate for Latin American citizens. Our team has offices in Milan and Salerno.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a generational limit to obtain citizenship?
No. Italy does not establish a generational limit. You can claim citizenship through your great-grandparent, great-great-grandparent, or even earlier generations, as long as you can prove an unbroken line of descent.
What is the difference between the judicial and administrative routes?
The administrative route is processed through the Italian comune (municipality) and can take 3-5 years. The judicial route is filed before a court and is typically resolved in 12-24 months. The judicial route is faster and has a success rate above 95%.
Do I need to travel to Italy during the process?
Not during the judicial process. You only need to travel once the favorable ruling is obtained, to register at the comune and apply for your passport. Our team coordinates everything from our offices in Italy.
Can my children also obtain citizenship?
Yes. Once you obtain your citizenship, your minor children can be registered automatically. Adult children can also claim it through you.
What happens if I cannot find my ancestor's birth certificate?
Our team has extensive experience in genealogical research and access to historical archives in Italy. In most cases we can locate missing documents. If a document does not exist, we explore alternative routes.
